UNEMPLOYMENT IN SPAIN

The number of unemployed citizens in Spain has increased to 11% of the total active population. Even though the unemployment rate has reached the highest level since 1999, the Minister of work, Juan Carlos, is counting the slight growth, compared to years before as a positive factor.

The unemployment rate for women increased to 13.89% and for men 6.49%. The only business in which the rate dropped was the building industry. 16.4% of unemployed people in Spain are under 25 and the majority of them are women (56.9%). The number of unemployed varies depending on the region with Southern Spain having a higher rate than the north.

OUT OF WORK
BY GARY U.S. BONDS

Eight a.m., I'm up and out
Feet beating on the sidewalk
Down at the unemployment agency
All I get is talk

I check the want ads
But there just ain't nobody hiring
What's a man supposed to do
When he's down and out of work

I need a job, I'm out of work
I'm unemployed, I'm out of work
I need a job, I'm out of work

I go to pick my girl up
Her name is Linda Brown
Her Dad invites me in
He tells me to sit down

The small talk that we're making
Is going pretty smooth
But then he drops a bomb
Son, what do yo do

I'm out of work
I need a job, I'm out of work
I'm unemployed, I'm out of work
I need a job, I'm out of work
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Hey, Mr. President
I know you've got the plans
You're doing all you can now
To help the little man

We've got to do our best
To whip that inflation down
Maybe you've got a job for me
Just driving you around

These tough times
They're enough to
Make a man lose his mind
Up there you've got a job
But down here below

I'm out of work
I need a job, I'm out of work
I'm unemployed, I'm out of work
I need a job, I'm out of work

I'm out of work, I'm out of work

I'm out of work, I'm out of work
I'm out of work, I'm out of work
I'm out of work, I'm out of work

Words from the song
To whip down- to beat
Tough times- hard times
Sidewalk-it´s the American word for pavement ( acera)
the want ads-advertisements to get a job
to be unemployed-to be unoccupied, jobless, out of work, on the dole(informal English)

Bruce Springsteen » Factory

Early in the morning factory whistle blows,
Man rises from bed and puts on his clothes,
Man takes his lunch, walks out in the morning light,
It's the working, the working, just the working life.

Through the mansions of fear, through the mansions of pain,
I see my daddy walking through them factory gates in the rain,
Factory takes his hearing, factory gives him life,
The working, the working, just the working life.

End of the day, factory whistle cries,
Men walk through these gates with death in their eyes.
And you just better believe, boy,
somebody's gonna get hurt tonight,
It's the working, the working, just the working life.
Lee Dorsey - Working In A Coalmine

Workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down down down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whop! about to slip down
Workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down down down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whop! about to slip down
Five o'clock in the mornin'
I'm all ready up and gone
Lord I am so tired
How long can this go on?

I'm workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down down down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whop! about to slip down
Workin' in a coal mine

Goin' down down down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whop! about to slip down

Cos I'm on call in the mornin'
Oh I go by the coal
But when Saturday goes around
I'm too tired for havin' fun (Too tired for having fun)

I been workin'in a coal mine
Goin' down down down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whop! about to slip down
Workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down down down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whop! about to slip down

Lord I am so tired
How long can this go on?

I'm workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down down down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whop! about to slip down
Workin' in a coal mine
Goin' down down down
Workin' in a coal mine
Whop! about to slip down
