AL PACINO (done by Ferran Ortí 2 Bachillerato B, IES Enric Valor Secondary School)
Al PACINO
He was one of the greatest actors in all the film history. He establishedhimself during one of the film gretest decades ( the 1970s), and has also become an enduring and iconic figure int the American movies world.Born on April 25th,1940,in the Bronx (New York) , his parents (salvatore and Rose) got divorced when he was young. He then moved with his mother to his granparents´ house. When Al Pacino was a child he always repeated to himself and said out loud the plots and characters´ voices he had seen in the movies.
Bored and unmotivated at school, the young A Pacino took up the theatre. Some years later, he started into the prestigious Actor Studio in 1966, studying under the instructions of the legendary acting trainer Lee Strasberg. After appearing in some of his first movies like in "Me , Nataly", he took the role of Michael Corleone in "The Godfather" (1972) .Famous actors such as Robert Redford or Jack Nicholsosn were also interested in getting this role, but director Francis Ford Coppola had set his eyes on the unknown Italian for it.The film was a smash hit for everyone´s film career , including Al Pacino´s .He got then his first Academy Award nominations as a second role actor. Instead of taking easier projects just for making profit and earning money , he devoted himself to what he considered as tough but important films such as the true-life drama Serpico (1973).Then he was nominated for three years as " the best actor" .He roled in " Justice for Everyone"(1979) for which he received another Academy Award nomination as the best actor. This would unfortunately mean the beginning of a decline in his career which suffered from critical and commercial flops. He took on another vicious gangster role and cemented his legendary status in the extreme violent cult hit "Scarface" (1983). Then he came back with the horrible film "Revolution", one of his worst performances. He roled again in the third part of "The Godfather"(1990).In 1992 he finally won the Academy Award as best actor for his amazing performance in "Scent of Woman" (1992).He played a blind man. This role was made for him and reamisn as a classic. "Carlito´s Way" was again another gangster film as well as the epic crime and drama film "Heat" (1995) directed by Michael Mann , co-starring Robert de Niro, even though they only had a couple of scenes together. In his personla life,Pacino is one of the lasting endurable bachelors notorious for this for not being married yet. With his intense and gritty performances,Pacino was very original and new while acting. His method would become at large as a process to be imitated and followed by some other actors. His unbetable number of classical roles has already turned him into a legend. His commitment to acting as his profession and his constant screen control has set him as one of the movie true legends.
